Who and what tunes are giving me life right now?

Naughty Boy feat Kyla x Popcaan “Should Have Been”

Should Have Been was released on the 18th November and is now available to purchase. It is a TUNE!! Kyla’s soft vocals and Popcaan little ad-libs really compliment the beat and the collaboration works well. It is believed that Ellie Goulding was supposed to be the vocalist instead of Kyla, however I’m glad Ellie is not on this track I don’t think her voice would have suited the song. This is the kind of tune that should have been released in the summer, but I suppose it’s uplifting for the winter months. Big up to Naughty Boy on the production.

Kamaiyah “How Does It Feel”

Kamaiyah debut single “How Does It Feel” premiered late in 2015, she released her debut mixtape, “A Good Night in the Ghetto”, in March 2016. She was featured along with Drake on the YG single “Why You Always Hatin?” (Credited to

Right now Kamaiyah is making noise in her homeland Oakland and other cities in the U.S. Watch out for this hot girl setting the cities on fire!!

Cadet x Big Tobz x Devz “Who What Where”(Unofficial Remix)

This Devz track has gone viral as the “Who, What, Where” song that was done as a freestyle on Bl@ck Box channel but actually there is more to the track than just the popular hook. However I am loving Cadet this year and I think he should be someone to watch for 2017. I really like the idea of a mixtape or some big project that features Cadet, Big Tobz, Blittz, Ghetts, Donaeo, Giggs and few more of the “man dem”. The way how Cadet and Big Tobz bar after each other, their slogans “Cadet Cadet” “Kool Nuh” and the punch lines are comical. These two are dope artists and I am for sure are looking forward to more freestyle, tours and more projects.

Common “Black America Again”

Black America Again is the eleventh studio album by American hip hop recording artist Common. It was released on November 4, 2016, by ARTium Recordings and Def Jam Recordings. The album’s first single, called “Love Star” was released on September 2, 2016. The song features guest vocals from American musicians Marsha Ambrosius and PJ, with the production that was provided by Karriem Riggins.  The album’s second single, called “Black America Again” was released on September 23, 2016. The song features guest vocals from American R&B legend Stevie Wonder, with Karriem who also produced this track, alongside with Robert Glasper. (Words Credited) by

Common felt the need to release the album due the election year. When I listened to the whole album for the first time it felt like “Music to my ears” literally. I describe Commons music as meditation, you have to put yourself in a zone to really understand the process. This album stands for something and I feel like it hold some very important messages. I also feel that this album has inspiration for other mc/ rappers.

So lets talk about Black America Again. My personal favourite is “Pyramids”

Followed by

“Joy and Peace” feat Bilal and “Love Star” feat Marsha Ambrosius. Every song has something different even the Interludes add new textures. This a big album in 2016 and it is very much-needed. Thank you Common.

Music is sounded so sweet right now I have to big up to all artists that are releasing those little gems and are putting in the work. Stay tuned for more blog posts. Inspire Mysmile last posts will be 18th December. Stay bless and have a beautiful festive break.
