AFROBEAN PLAYLIST

Afrobeats has been popping for a few years. However in my opinion I feel that it started to become popular in the UK when D Banj released “Oliver Twist” and Fuse ODG “Azonto” around 2011-2012. Also around same time other artists such as Mista Silva, Moelogo, Sarkodie were also breaking through. What’s more exciting about the whole Afro sound is that now it has taken over bashment/dancehall music. Although Alkaline, Aidonia, Kranium, Beenie Man, Popcaan and Busy Signal keeping the dancehall sounds alive, personally I think the genre isn’t as strong as it once was and this is where the Afro sounds plays a pivotal part because both genres have entwined. This has created sub genres off the back of Afrobeats. We have established Afro pop and Afro house music. They are all elements of Afrobeats. Afrobeats originates from Ghana but has Nigerian instruments such as Congas drums, bass guitars, horns and percussion sounds. We hear Ghana’s native tongue ‘Twi’ which is dialect to ‘Patois’

What I like about this movement is that now dancehall artists are collaborating with Afro artists. I was inspired by Lotto Boyzz recent EP “Afrobean” for this playlist. Their definition of “Afrobean” is spot on for this genre and for the tunes I have selected for this playlist.

Lets get into it. Some of the tunes were released months ago.

WANDE COAL, DJ TUNEZ “Iskaba”

D’ BANJ x THE FEDZ “Comment ca va”

MI CASA “Nana”

DIAMOND PLATNUMZ feat MORGAN HERITAGE “Hallelujah”

‘Iskaba’  WANDE COAL & DJ TUNEZ

Iskaba is such a tune I dont know why it has taken me so long to upload to the playlist, I have been sitting on this banger for weeeeeeks. Iskaba was actually released year 24/11/16 to be exact. The highly anticpated video came out April this year.

Who is Wande Coal?

Wande Coal is the CEO of Black Records Entertainment, he  has recorded tracks with other Nigerian artists including Ikechukwu, Naeto C, Dr SID, D’Prince, Wizkid and many more. In 2012 following a fallout between record label Executives Don Jazzy and D’banj, Coal, Dr SID and D’Prince signed on to Don Jazzy’s new Record Label Mavin Records with the addition of Tiwa Savage from 323 entertainment acting as the first lady of mavin records. Coal left Mavin Records in 2013. In October 2013, he released a single called “Baby Face”.

After a long hiatus, Coal dropped his  album Wanted.

‘THE LINK UP’  DONAEO

Its been a while since I have uploaded music from Donaeo, however he has been the curator for bringing back UK Funky music and was asked to do the #Bringbackfunkyhousechallange. With the help of the ‘Link Up TV’ they were able to document the process. Donaeo vocalled and mixed his new funky track within 30 minutes. Donaeo announced last week that ‘Link up’ is available to download. Since putting it out, the feedback has been great. Supporters have been posting videos of them listening, creating shapes (dance) to his new track.

I am excited for Donaeo and for UK Funky to come back and I’m hoping all of the producers and Dj’s who kept it alive grave us with some new productions.

STOP LIVING A SINGLE LIFE IF YOU ARE NOT SINGLE!!

T.E.A Blog recently reached out to you the readers to suggest topics that should be covered on here. The topic that seemed be causing all sorts of problems was “Men who are claiming single life but are not actually single.”

It seems that it has become a problem for many women including myself with men who are “pretending” to be single when actually they have been in a long-term relationship. The question is why are they doing this? How can we look out for this behaviour and avoid being mislead?

  1. WHY? I don’t actually know why men hide the relationship they are in and date or start new relationships with other women. Live a stress and drama free life. It’s so simple just conclude the long-term relationship. It’s so simple!!

2. Honesty  For some reason men seem to think that women can not handle honesty, the truth. Women actually welcome that honesty so that they can move forward and actually get over the heartbreak quicker. It’s not the honesty that we can not handle its the manipulation, lies and general “BS” (bullshit) that is the problem for women, which then creates unnecessary problems that were not there to begin with.

Guys! Stop denying and lying when she is asking you simple questions about something  because she will  more than likely know that something aint right.

3. Intuition– This thing called intuition ( your gut instinct) is a blessing and a curse but more of a blessing.  Whilst the woman has been promoting her relationship for years, she maybe blind to the fact that her man has actually never promoted their relationship with her, then suddenly his movements and behaviour doesn’t add up. This is where the intitution starts to play havoc. If her man has cheated on her in the past then she will NOTICE the pattern. This may take some time when we realise but believe women will play the game until we get the answers without even asking the man or are no longer asking those annoying questions.

The message to men is stop living a single life if you not single. How does this even make sense? The guy could be with a woman for 5+ years and throughout the years he has been fooling other women to the point where some are marrying the other woman without the 1st lady even knowing about his double life. Then when things don’t add up the woman who has been with him for the longest will have clocked on to what has been going on whilst lady no 2 has no idea until the 1st lady lets her know.

Men it is so simple to just end the dead relationship you are no longer feeling. In fact before the dating starts. Please make it clear about what it is that you want so that we can keep our options and move on.  Tell the woman you have been seeing for years that you are bored just be flipping honest.

This behaviour needs to stop because women are tired of this cycle and it’s not fair for the guys that are not living a double life and happily single or want to date.

I would like to hear your views on this subject especially from the men, do they acknowledge this life?

Lets discuss…

‘INCAPABLE’- KEYSHIA COLE & NEW FAVOURITES

It’s no secret that Keyshia Cole has been working on new material and giving us tasters off the new album. Personally when I heard the collaboration with French Montana and Remy Ma on the ‘You’ single I was excited and thought it was a good come back as its upbeat but she still kept it real with her meaningful lyrics.

Now Keyshia is officially back and promoting her new single ‘Incapable‘. When I received the single I didn’t waste no time to listen and just as I expected. Cole  is back to making classic ballads. We can’t deny Keyshia’s talent and she is dope at using her experiences to inspire her songs and she makes them so relatable for everybody.

I’m not excited about this song however I am looking forward to hearing Keyshia’s forthcoming  seventh studio album, 11:11 Reset due October 20th (TODAY). I do truly believe that she has some great songs to share. We need Keyshia to keep RnB alive across the waters.

FEKKY. feat SHAKKA ‘My Size’

Taken from Fekky’s ‘El Clasico’ debut album I think this is one of the best tracks off this album, I can not get enough of it. The production is so sick and its a great feature from Shakka. The video was shot in South Africa its a good look.

El Clasico is out now on Island Records https://IslandRecs.lnk.to/ElClasico

SHAKKA ‘Heart The Weekend’

There is just  something about Shakka. Even when he performs he is such a SICK artist no matter what track, production he puts out. I think what I like the most about Shakka is that he such a diverse artist that you can see it in how he dresses and we can hear it in his music. No track sounds the same and I really like how he sings over electronic, house beats but can also switch up and go into his roots.

Heart The Weekend is his latest single and its out now

ANGEL ‘Take You Home’

Take You Home has grown on me the more I heard it. What I really like  about Angel is how he curates  his influences into his music. For example “Take You Home” is a remake of the 80’s classic “Gotta Get You Home Tonight” by Eugene Wilde. I Really like how Angel has taken a classic and made it so modern that he almost sounds like Chris Brown and hints of Trey Songz.

In my personal opinion Angel doesn’t get the credit that he deserves. The man has been doing bits for time. This is a sick remake.
